Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials conducted raids in Abdullapurmet mandal, Ranga Reddy district, on Monday evening, apprehending two government officials red-handed while accepting a bribe. Abdullapurmet Tahsildar Sudarshan Reddy and Mandal Surveyor Batuka Srinivasulu were caught by the ACB while taking a bribe of ₹20 lakh.
These officials had demanded a bribe to survey land according to HMDA (Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority) regulations and issue a joint inspection survey report. The ACB officials caught them in the act of receiving ₹20 lakh from the victim.
Initially, Tahsildar Sudarshan Reddy and Surveyor Srinivasulu had demanded a total of ₹30 lakh for the HMDA layout survey report. Surveyor Srinivasulu reportedly played a key role in this large bribe demand.
This incident highlights how ordinary citizens suffer when transparency and accountability are lacking in government offices. Officials engaging in bribery instead of performing their duties properly erodes public trust.
Demanding bribes for land-related work in government offices has become common in Telangana. This incident once again reveals the extent to which corruption is entrenched in the government machinery, forcing people to pay bribes for their work.
This incident is significant for landowners and developers in Telangana, as it highlights the need for transparency and integrity from government officials. Such actions slow down the land transaction process and impose unnecessary financial burdens on ordinary citizens.
