Farmers in Adilabad district are facing challenges after the Irrigation Department issued orders prohibiting the use of motors to draw water from tanks, ponds, check dams, and canals.

These directives came into effect on October 17, 2026, at 4:50 AM. The department has clearly stated that both farmers and the public are forbidden from using motors to extract water.

The current situation is made worse by El Nino conditions, which have caused paddy and cotton crops to wilt in the fields. Farmers are struggling to save their crops, and these new restrictions add to their problems.

Many farmers believe that one or two more irrigations could save their crops. However, the new orders from the authorities have removed this possibility.

The Irrigation Department has warned that strict action will be taken against anyone found violating these orders. Copies of the directives have been distributed to Tahsildars, MPDOs, and officials from the Agriculture and Electricity departments.
