E-commerce major Amazon is preparing for potential job cuts in New York City. This action is being considered if a proposed delivery protection law comes into effect in the city.
If the new law is implemented, Amazon may lay off approximately 5,000 delivery employees. The company is also considering the closure of 15 warehouses in the city.
The closure of these warehouses could affect an additional 2,000 employees. This brings the total potential job losses to around 7,000 workers.
However, a final decision on this proposal has not yet been announced. Amazon has not made a definitive statement regarding these potential actions.
