The Meteorological Department has issued a preliminary cyclone alert for Andhra Pradesh. An upper air cyclonic circulation is active over the Southwest Bay of Bengal, close to the North Tamil Nadu coast.
Meteorological experts have indicated that this circulation extends up to an altitude of approximately 5.8 kilometers above sea level. This weather system has led to a sudden drop in temperatures across the state.
Officials predict that heavy rains are likely in one or two locations within coastal Andhra over the next three days. Several other areas are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall.
The department also warned of potential thunderstorms with lightning. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions during this period.
