Aqua farmers in Andhra Pradesh are once again facing increased financial pressure. Manufacturing companies have raised the prices of feed for both Vanamei and Tiger shrimp, with the new rates effective from October 16.

The price of Vanamei shrimp feed has increased by Rs. 8 per kilogram. Similarly, the price for Tiger shrimp feed has risen by Rs. 11 per kilogram, adding to the operational costs for farmers.

This latest increase follows a recent hike of Rs. 10 per kilogram, which was later reduced by Rs. 8 after intervention from the judiciary. The current price adjustment reverses that temporary relief.

With these new price changes, farmers will incur an additional cost of Rs. 8,000 per tonne for Vanamei feed and Rs. 11,000 per tonne for Tiger feed. This will impact the profitability of aqua farming.
