Police have arrested seven more individuals who assisted the main accused in the large-scale arms theft from the armory of the Bollaram 20th Battalion, Madras Regiment. This marks a significant development in the case, as reported by Namasthe Telangana.

The Commissioner of Police disclosed the details of the case during a press conference held on Saturday at the Malkajgiri DCP office. Namasthe Telangana stated that these seven individuals aided the main accused in selling the stolen weapons.

On August 31, Army officer Lieutenant Colonel Mayank Govitor filed a complaint regarding the extensive theft of weapons from the Bollaram armory. Following this, Bollaram police initiated an investigation and deployed special teams.

Based on technical evidence, the main accused, Upputolla Mallesh alias Raju, was arrested on September 11 and remanded, Namasthe Telangana reported. The weapons hidden in his house in Sainagar, Achampet, Nagarkurnool district, were recovered.

With the arrest of the main accused and seven others, the entire network behind the arms theft and sales appears to have been dismantled. This development underscores the need for increased vigilance against illegal arms trafficking in the state.
