Police have intensified vehicle inspections in view of the upcoming municipal elections. On Sunday, officers set up a checkpost on the national highway at Purushottapuram and inspected every vehicle entering Andhra Pradesh from Odisha.

During these checks, police stopped a car traveling from Bhubaneswar towards Palasa. Upon inspection, they discovered Rs 4 lakh in cash inside the vehicle.

The individuals in the car failed to produce proper documents for the cash, leading police to seize the entire amount. When questioned, the occupants stated they were traveling to Palasa for cashew business.

However, due to the lack of supporting documents for the cash, police registered a case and initiated an investigation. These intensified checks aim to curb illegal cash movement during the election period.
