Two-wheeler and car sales in the city grew by around 30% in October compared with the previous month. This increase occurred despite higher prices for vehicles.
Two-wheelers dominated the sales, as people sought to avoid crowded public transport. Many chose two-wheelers for local trips instead of buses and auto-rickshaws.
Women buying scooters for visits to shops and markets contributed to the increase. Young customers purchasing motorcycles and scooters also drove the sales growth.
Car sales were slower during this period. Dealers together sold around 200 cars during the Dasara festival.
Road congestion during peak hours, higher car prices, and road blockages from ongoing infrastructure projects deterred some potential car buyers.
Dealers expect the trend of increased vehicle sales to continue until Deepavali.
