Delhi Police have arrested Abhijeet Dipke, the founder of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). The action relates to the party's 'Lehra Do Tiranga' rally, which took place on Friday at Central Park in Connaught Place.
Mr. Dipke is scheduled to appear before an SEM court on Saturday. This arrest occurs amidst heightened tensions in Delhi concerning protests, detentions, and restrictions on public gatherings.
Ratna Singh, who heads CJP's legal affairs, confirmed the arrest through a post on X. She stated that Mr. Dipke has been taken into custody and will be presented in court.
However, Ms. Singh also noted that Mr. Dipke's current whereabouts are not known. Lawyers have not yet been granted access to meet with him, she added.
