Country chicken prices have increased in Hyderabad and Srikakulam district for the Dussehra festival. As of October 20, a kilogram of country chicken is selling for ₹1,000, which matches the price of mutton.
In Srikakulam district, weekly markets in Budumuru, Narayanavalasa, Kollivalasa, Kojjiri, Amparam, Mandasa, Ambugam, Pond, Palakonda, and Seethampeta have seen brisk sales of country chicken for the past ten days.
Non-vegetarian buyers are paying higher prices for their festival purchases. Depending on its size, a single country hen or cock is fetching between ₹1,000 and ₹2,000.
Buyers stated that the demand for country chicken has risen because the prices of sheep and goats are currently above ₹10,000 each.
