Telangana residents lost nearly ₹1,800 crore to cybercrime in 2025, according to The Times of India. DGP C V Anand revealed this information at the launch of "Cyber Security Flash," a 2-km night walk at People's Plaza on Necklace Road.

Around 45,000 complaints have already been received by the TGCSB and other cybercrime police stations this year, DGP Anand added.

The event, organized under the theme "Pause for Safety," saw around 3,000 participants. Citizens, students, volunteers, and police personnel joined the walk, using mobile phone flashlights and LED wristbands, conveying the message "Pause, Think and Verify."

Anand stated that cybercriminals are employing various methods to defraud victims, including fake investment schemes, OTP-related fraud, parcel scams, and digital arrest tactics.

October is observed globally as Cyber Security Awareness Month, providing a timely context for this awareness initiative in Telangana.

Given the rising incidence of cybercrime in Telangana, it is crucial for residents to remain vigilant and adhere to the "Pause, Think and Verify" message to help prevent financial losses.
