Indian authorities have observed that cybercrime gangs are seeking to establish new operational bases in Nepal, following intensified crackdowns in Cambodia and Myanmar. Some members who fled those countries are looking towards India, while key masterminds, many of whom are Chinese nationals, are attempting to set up new centers in Nepal.

Indian agencies have begun efforts to contain these networks before they become deeply entrenched in the neighboring country. This shift in operations comes after military actions against cybercrime hubs, prompted by pressure from the United States.

For the past five to six years, cybercrime syndicates have been active in Cambodia and Myanmar. They established centers that resembled legitimate software companies and recruited hundreds of individuals.

These criminal groups specifically targeted Indian youth with job offers. After recruiting them, the individuals were then coerced into committing various cybercrimes.

Many of the individuals operating these syndicates are Chinese nationals. They are orchestrating the current attempts to establish new bases in Nepal.

Indian authorities are actively working to prevent these new centers from becoming established in Nepal. This proactive measure aims to curb the expansion of cybercrime activities in the region.
