The weekly market in Araku was bustling with buyers on Friday, ahead of the Dussehra festival. Tribal families made extensive purchases for their festive requirements.
Sales of roosters and goats saw a significant increase at the market. With the heightened demand for these animals, prices also rose considerably.
Country roosters were sold for prices ranging from Rs. 1200 to Rs. 2000. Goats and ram lambs also fetched similar high prices.
Goats and ram lambs were sold for up to Rs. 8000. Prices for these animals are expected to rise further as the festival draws closer.
During Dussehra, tribal communities purchase these animals to observe their traditional customs, which are an important part of their culture.
This surge in purchases reflects the festive atmosphere in the Araku region and also provides a boost to the local economy.
