An Assistant Engineer (AE) from the electricity department, Rakesh, was caught red-handed by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials in Hyderabad while accepting a bribe. The incident occurred in the Madannapet area, falling under the Santosh Nagar substation limits, sparking widespread discussion among the public.

ACB officials stated that Rakesh had demanded a bribe of Rs 1.20 lakh for sanctioning six new electricity meters. He was apprehended by the ACB in a meticulously planned trap while he was in the process of receiving the demanded amount.

This incident once again highlights the extent of corruption prevalent within the electricity department. Strong criticism has emerged against officials who resort to bribery instead of providing services to the public.

The ACB has urged the public to actively participate in eradicating corruption. They have advised citizens to report any instances where bribes are demanded immediately.

Such incidents underscore the critical need for transparent governance in Telangana. Officials bear the responsibility of ensuring that services are delivered to the public promptly and without corruption.
