Telangana Forest Department officials have issued a warning that legal action will be taken against individuals displaying the Palapitta bird during the Dasara festival. They clarified that capturing, caging, or exhibiting the bird under the guise of festival traditions is prohibited.
Officials stated that protecting the Palapitta is a collective responsibility as part of wildlife conservation efforts. They warned that cases would be registered under the law against those who violate these regulations.
To prevent the display of Palapitta at pandals during Dasara, the Forest Department has developed special awareness posters. These posters have been distributed to the Banjara Hills police.
The department is providing guidance to pandal organizers through these posters, urging them to avoid activities such as catching, caging, or displaying the birds. The Forest Department is also conducting awareness programs focused on Palapitta conservation.
