P Anand Kumar, a former audit commissioner with the GST department, was abducted in Visakhapatnam. While traveling through the IT SEZ area under PM Palem police station limits, his car was intercepted by a group of men who forced him into another vehicle and took him to a guest house on the city’s outskirts.

Police successfully rescued Mr. Anand Kumar within hours of the incident. Authorities have arrested ten of the eleven individuals accused in the abduction, and a search is underway for the remaining suspect.

PM Palem police inspector G Balakrishna stated that Mr. Anand Kumar, who lives with his family in Hyderabad, had come to Visakhapatnam for work. He was on his way to the airport to catch a flight back when the abduction occurred.

A search operation was initiated after Singampalli Suresh, a havildar at the CGST office in Visakhapatnam, filed a complaint. Mr. Suresh was driving Mr. Anand Kumar to the airport at the time.

Special teams were formed to locate the officer. Investigators reviewed CCTV footage from various locations and analyzed the victim’s mobile phone location, which ultimately led them to the suspects at the guest house.

Legal proceedings are being pursued against the arrested individuals. Police continue their efforts to apprehend the one suspect who remains at large.
