Rebbena police intercepted a couple and seized 5.232 kg of dry ganja at Kaghaznagar X Road in Asifabad district. District SP Nitika Pant announced the arrests in connection with the illegal transport.
SP Nitika Pant provided these details at a press conference held on Monday. She stated that the confiscated ganja is estimated to be worth approximately Rs. 2.7 lakhs.
The arrested individuals were identified as Jumoor Gain and her husband Suranjan Gain, who reside in Kaghaznagar and are originally from Isgaon. They were apprehended by Rebbena police during a vehicle check while traveling on a motorcycle towards Mancherial.
Police reported that Suranjan had purchased the 5.232 kg of ganja for Rs. 15,000 from a person named Pintoo in Odisha on the 14th of this month. He was transporting it when caught.
In addition to the ganja, police also confiscated the couple's motorcycle and mobile phones. SP Nitika Pant confirmed that further investigation into the matter is underway.
