The government is planning to encourage farmers to shift towards alternative crops, specifically horticulture, due to El Niño conditions, according to Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao. This initiative aims to provide further support for horticulture cultivation.

Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao held a review meeting with officials from the Horticulture Department and Oilfed at the Secretariat on Friday. Discussions focused on strategies to promote and expand horticulture.

The minister expressed satisfaction over the significant increase in the cultivation area for spices, chilies, and flowers across the state. This growth indicates a positive response from farmers towards these crops.

As reported by Disha daily, the government intends to provide substantial incentives for these two specific crops. This move is expected to further boost the cultivation of horticultural produce.

This government support will offer alternative income sources for farmers in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. It aims to mitigate the effects of El Niño and enhance stability in the agricultural sector.
