The High Court has ordered a CBI investigation into allegations of custodial violence and directed disciplinary proceedings against the police personnel found responsible. These directions came on a habeas corpus petition filed by Sai Krishna’s mother, Gade Vijaya Lakshmi.

The high court directed the CBI director to immediately register a regular criminal case and entrust the investigation to a senior officer. The order stated that all officials found responsible for custodial violence should be proceeded against and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The DGP was directed to send the complete case records to CBI through a special messenger within a week. Vijaya Lakshmi initially sought production of her missing son and later sought a CBI investigation into his disappearance.

Sai Krishna, 25, was apprehended at Markapuram around 3 am on May 6 in connection with pending non-bailable warrants. He was then brought to Krishna Lanka Police Station around 7 am.

The High Court's directives in this case will have significant implications for police accountability in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. It underscores the judiciary's role in safeguarding citizens' rights.
