Double decker bus services in Hyderabad have been suspended for the past month. The buses are currently confined to the depot after the Tourism Department took over their maintenance responsibilities.

This situation has caused disappointment for tourists visiting the city during the festival holidays. Visitors are facing difficulties finding alternative transportation options around the Hussain Sagar area.

Previously, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) acquired six electric double decker buses at an approximate cost of Rs 13 crore. These buses were introduced to promote city tourism.

The Tourism Department assumed maintenance duties from HMDA. However, the department has failed to operate these buses, leading to the suspension of services that began with much fanfare.
