Onion prices in Hyderabad have remained elevated for the past two months, placing a financial burden on households, small vendors, and eateries across the city.
The city's onion supply largely depends on arrivals from Maharashtra. Variations in these supplies have directly influenced prices in both wholesale and retail markets.
Despite consumer hopes for a price correction, onion costs continue to be a concern for families and small businesses. Many consumers are reducing their purchases due to the high rates.
Shyamlal, a commission agent at Mahboobgunj market, stated that prices have stayed high for nearly two months. He added that the market has not yet seen a consistent drop in prices.
Due to the increased costs, food businesses are cutting down on their use of onions. This adjustment impacts their preparation expenses and menu offerings.
