Hyderabad recently hosted a vibrant Japan Culture Festival, organized by the Na Ra Japan Hub. The event coincided with the 20th anniversary of the Hyderabad-Miyoshi sister-city affiliation.
This affiliation was established in 2006 between Hyderabad and Miyoshi City in Japan’s Hiroshima Prefecture. The festival featured a variety of attractions, including cultural performances, cosplay, and an anime quiz.
Visitors also had opportunities to learn about education and employment prospects in Japan. Attendees explored Japanese crafts and food, experiencing a taste of the country's rich traditions.
Performances and interactive activities offered insights into Japan's traditional and popular culture. Traditional Japanese puppetry, presented by Kazuo Kawasaki from Miyoshi, provided a glimpse into the country's storytelling heritage.
Cosplayers, dressed as popular characters, drew large crowds of fans eager to interact and take photographs. One attendee, V Maanya, expressed delight at seeing both Indian and Japanese cultures converge.
Sree Harsha, a cosplayer, noted that the enthusiasm from the public encouraged them to continue their cosplay activities. The festival offered a unique chance to experience Japanese culture firsthand.
