Hyderabad traffic police conducted extensive checks on vehicles using fake number plates across the city. During this drive, 100 vehicles were seized, and criminal cases were registered against their drivers.

The special drive began after many complaints about people using fake number plates to avoid traffic fines and break legal rules.

Among the seized vehicles were 88 two-wheelers and 12 cars. Police said that using fake registration number plates is a violation of the law.

Additional CP (Traffic) Joel Davis stated that fake number plates create a challenge for traffic management, crime control, and public safety.

He clarified that all vehicle owners must affix their number plates according to the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988, the Central Motor Vehicles Rules of 1989, and the current HSRP regulations.
