The expansion works for the Hyderabad-Vijayawada-Machilipatnam National Highway-65 (NH-65) are slated to begin by January 2027. This crucial road expansion is expected to make travel between the two Telugu states safer and faster.

NHAI Chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav clarified that the deadline for submitting tenders for this project is November 11, 2026. Works are expected to accelerate once the tender process is completed.

On Monday in New Delhi, Roads, Buildings, and Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy held a special meeting with NHAI Chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav and member Vipnesh Sharma.

The Minister urged for the immediate expansion of the current four-lane highway to six lanes with service roads on both sides to prevent accidents on this route, which is constantly busy with thousands of vehicles between the two Telugu states.

Once these expansion works are completed, commuters on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada-Machilipatnam route will benefit from improved road infrastructure. This will further strengthen commercial and transportation links between the two states.
