Tens of thousands of devotees thronged the Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam temple atop Indrakeeladri on Friday, the sixth day of Dasara festivities, to seek blessings from Goddess Kanaka Durga Devi, adorned as Saraswati Devi in the sanctum sanctorum.

Thousands of devotees, largely women and children, began gathering late on Thursday night to seek blessings on Moola Nakshatram, considered the deity’s birth star. Heavy crowds thronged the queue lines from the early hours until 10 am.

About 1.37 lakh devotees had darshan of goddess Kanaka Durga by 7 pm on the sixth day of Dasara festivities. Around two lakh devotees were expected to worship by the end of the day.

The average waiting time for darshan exceeded three hours due to the massive turnout. The turnout declined as the day progressed before rising again in the evening.

These festivities hold significant importance for devotees in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Worshipping the Goddess during Dasara is believed to fulfill their wishes and bring prosperity.
