Irrigation department officials have issued orders prohibiting farmers and the public in Adilabad district from using motors to draw water from tanks, ponds, check dams, and canals. These directives were issued on October 16.
Officials stated that this decision was made due to the impact of the El Niño phenomenon. They emphasized that these measures are necessary for the conservation of water resources.
The department warned that strict action would be taken against anyone found violating these orders by using motors to draw water.
Copies of these orders have been distributed to Tahsildar, MPDO, agriculture, and electricity department officials. The irrigation department has sought their cooperation for implementation at the ground level.
Farmers are currently facing severe distress as their paddy and cotton crops are drying up. They believe that one or two more irrigations could save their crops.
With the new restrictions from the irrigation department, farmers are struggling even more to protect their crops. Farmers are expressing anger over the government's approach.
