Several prominent Durga Puja pandals across Kolkata have temporarily suspended public entry following a stampede. The incident at the Chorbagan Sarbojanin puja pandal resulted in 19 deaths and 25 injuries.

Organisers decided to close the pandals after receiving instructions from the administration. Police arrested seven individuals in connection with the tragic event.

Popular puja venues like Tala Prattoy, Alipore Sarbojanin, Chetla Agrani, and Ballygunge Sarbojonin have stopped admitting visitors. Additionally, the show at Allen Park, located on Kolkata’s iconic Park Street, has been cancelled.

Many puja pandals in Kolkata’s Salt Lake area have also temporarily halted visitor access. These measures are in place to ensure public safety.

Authorities announced compensation, government jobs, and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe for those affected. The investigation into the stampede is ongoing.
