The historic Machli Kaman gateway, located near Hyderabad’s Charminar, is scheduled for restoration starting November 1. The project has an estimated cost of ₹1.3 crore.

Deccan Terrain Heritage will carry out the restoration work. The Quli Qutb Shah Urban Development Authority will supervise the project.

The restoration efforts will focus on structural strengthening, conservation, and repairs. Traditional techniques, including the use of lime mortar, will be employed.

Mir Khan, founder of Deccan Terrain Heritage, said that using lime mortar is intended to preserve the gateway’s original character.

This project encompasses both structural repairs and heritage conservation. It forms part of a broader initiative to enhance the historic Pathergatti precinct surrounding Charminar.

Machli Kaman dates back to the Qutb Shahi period. The restoration work is set to commence on November 1.
