A large quantity of explosives was seized near the Pipparwada toll plaza in Jainath mandal, Adilabad district, during routine vehicle checks conducted by the police. Seven individuals have been detained in connection with this incident.
Police intercepted two vehicles and, upon inspection, discovered the explosives. Six mobile phones were also seized during the operation.
The estimated value of the seized explosives, excluding the vehicles, is approximately Rs 20 lakh.
Adilabad district SP Akhil Mahajan stated that police intercepted two vehicles carrying the explosives and detained the seven occupants after the material was found during inspection.
During preliminary questioning, investigators found that the accused had allegedly sourced the explosives through a man identified as Ravi Kumar from Uttar Pradesh.
Investigators suspect the material was intended for illegal sale to mines, quarries, and stone crushers across the state. This seizure is crucial in curbing illegal activities within the region.
