Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao announced that the upcoming Yasangi season is likely to experience a fodder shortage due to the El Niño effect, which is expected to reduce paddy cultivation. He has directed officials to take proactive measures to address this potential crisis.

The Minister advised farmers to utilize crop residue as fodder instead of burning it, emphasizing that this practice would help mitigate the impending fodder scarcity.

Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao further instructed district collectors to procure and make fodder available if necessary. This measure aims to provide relief to farmers and livestock owners.

On Wednesday, the Minister held a review meeting with senior officials from the Agriculture Department at the Secretariat. The discussions focused on strategies to prevent the anticipated fodder shortage.

The Minister highlighted that approximately 18 lakh acres of crop residue were burned during the last Yasangi season. He stressed the importance of implementing measures to prevent a similar situation after the current monsoon crop harvest.

These proactive steps are crucial for preventing a fodder shortage in the state. Such measures will help safeguard the livelihoods of farmers and ensure the well-being of livestock.
