Soil tests conducted by the Agriculture Department have revealed a concerning decline in organic carbon levels across Telangana. The tests indicated that organic carbon percentages in many districts are either moderate or low.
This reduction in organic carbon presents a new challenge for Telangana's agricultural sector, which is already facing growing concerns due to the El Niño effect on farming conditions.
The decrease in organic carbon in the soil also raises worries about the soil's capacity to retain moisture. This could adversely impact crop growth and yields in the state.
The Agriculture Department's soil test results show that organic carbon levels in the majority of districts are either low or only at an average level.
