Marigold farmers in Paderu, Alluri district, are facing disappointment as prices for their flowers fell during the Dussehra festival. Tribal farmers, who had hoped for good returns during the festive season, did not receive profitable prices.

Farmers had anticipated high demand for marigolds during Saddula Bathukamma and Dussehra. They worked hard to cultivate their flowers and brought them to market with expectations of fair compensation.

While marigold flowers are being sold for Rs. 60 to Rs. 100 per kilogram in larger cities, farmers in Paderu did not see similar prices.

The lack of remunerative prices has caused distress among the farmers. They are expressing their anguish over not even recovering their cultivation costs.
