Pakistani cosmetics seized from Beauty Ladies Emporium, Beauty Queen Shop, and S.J. in Hyderabad have been traced to Mumbai’s Crawford Market.
The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) had previously warned against two of the seized whitening creams due to excessive heavy metals, The Hindu reported.
Samples of the seized products are currently undergoing forensic tests to determine their composition, according to The Hindu.
The items were confiscated from shops in Hyderabad, indicating a distribution of illicit cosmetic products within the city.
This incident raises concerns for consumers in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, as it highlights the potential for illegally imported and potentially harmful cosmetics to enter the market.
Identifying the source of these products is crucial for consumer safety, given the health risks associated with using cosmetics containing excessive heavy metals.
