Public concern is growing over safety standards at Dandiya and Garba events organized during the Dussehra and Navratri festivals. Attendees are emphasizing that organizers must prioritize safety, especially given the large crowds these events attract.
Archana from Secunderabad, who attended a Dandiya and Garba event for the first time, said that safety and fire hazard prevention must be prioritized. She noted that most events use heavy lighting, which poses a risk of short circuits.
Archana stated that accurately estimating the number of attendees is a primary step for event safety. She also said that effective traffic management around the venue is equally important.
Dr. Ravinuthala Shashidhar, national spokesperson for the VHP, said that authorities must take responsibility whenever incidents occur at such events. He added that officials should not merely restrict themselves to granting permissions but must also oversee safety arrangements.
