Authorities conducted surprise raids on 12 Peenilu manufacturing units located within the city's 'CURE' zone. These sweets, which are widely sold during festive seasons, were found to be produced without adhering to quality standards and in extremely unhygienic conditions, NTV Telugu reported.

During the inspections, officials were reportedly shocked by the deplorable conditions in the manufacturing centers, according to NTV Telugu. It was observed that the workers preparing the Peenilu were not following basic hygiene rules.

NTV Telugu stated that officials determined workers were preparing food items without protective gear such as hair caps and gloves, wearing dirty clothes, and with sweat covering their bodies.

The inspections revealed that the raw materials used for making Peenilu, as well as the finished sweets, were kept on unhygienic floors, ready for sale, NTV Telugu reported.

These raids raise serious concerns about the quality and hygiene of sweets purchased by the public during festivals. This highlights the need for consumers to be more vigilant about the safety of the food products they buy.
