A 15-year-old government school student sustained serious head injuries after an iron rod fell on her from the second floor where construction activity was underway at the Government Girls High School, located near Jumera Hotel, Maisaram, Barkas, Hyderabad.
According to The Siasat Daily, the girl's father received a call from the school principal on October 5, informing him of his daughter's injury. He subsequently filed a complaint at the Chandryangutta Police Station regarding the incident.
The father alleged that the construction work on the school premises was being carried out without proper barricading and adequate safety measures, which he believes led to the accident.
The Siasat Daily also reported that a second girl injured her leg in this incident, highlighting broader safety concerns within the school premises during construction.
A case has been registered against the contractor under section 125 (a) (rash or negligent act endangering human life) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), as stated by The Siasat Daily.
This incident underscores the critical need for stringent safety protocols during construction activities in schools to prevent similar occurrences and ensure the well-being of students in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
