A special team from the Charminar zone on Sunday arrested Kondabhattula Pavan Kumar, an individual accused of defrauding people by posing as a woman on social media platforms.

Pavan Kumar, a resident of Balajinagar, Kukatpally, and originally from Kothagudem district, allegedly targeted individuals across several countries, including Dubai, Pakistan, Turkey, and Canada, as well as Indian states like Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Punjab.

Investigations revealed that the accused created 27 fraudulent social media profiles using photographs of a girl named Chandana from Kolkata. These fake identities were used to lure unsuspecting victims into his scheme.

Police stated that Pavan Kumar extorted ₹24.16 lakh from his victims. Authorities have seized two mobile phones, a laptop, and a pen drive, all of which were used in the commission of these crimes.
