Project SE Jagadeeshwar announced on October 20 that water release from the Sriram Sagar Project has been suspended due to the super El Nino effect this year.
Despite insufficient water reserves in the dam, the Chief Minister and Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy directed officials to provide irrigation water for one cycle to protect crops in the command area.
Following these directives, 9 TMC of irrigation water was supplied from October 10 until 9:30 AM on October 20.
SE Jagadeeshwar explained that this water was distributed through the Kakatiya, Saraswati, Lakshmi, and Flood canals, as well as the Ali Sagar Gutpa Lift Irrigation schemes.
