A first-year engineering student died and 14 others were injured when an arch fitted with lights collapsed during a Dandiya event at MVSR Engineering College in Nadergul on Saturday.
Police stated that strong winds caused the arch to collapse. Sona Narayan Das, an Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) student, was seriously injured in the incident.
She was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries and died during the course of treatment.
Police later confirmed that all 14 other injured individuals are now out of danger. They are currently receiving medical attention at the hospital.
