Telangana's agricultural sector is facing a severe crisis. The state, which once led the nation in paddy production, is now witnessing its fields turn barren due to the neglect of irrigation projects.
During the statehood movement, Gorati Venkanna's song 'Telangana Selanni Beedayerra' resonated deeply with the people. After achieving statehood, Telangana experienced a golden era in agriculture for nine and a half years, but now faces a similar predicament.
Previously, agriculture flourished with quality seeds, superior fertilizers, 24-hour free electricity, abundant irrigation water from swiftly completed projects, crop investment support, and farmer insurance. These initiatives propelled the state to the number one position in paddy production.
However, since the current rulers came to power with false promises, the agricultural growth graph has declined. Farmers are facing severe difficulties as projects are neglected and fields are left dry.
Due to the neglect of irrigation projects in the state, farmers are unable to cultivate their lands. This situation is having a significant impact on the state's economy.
Telangana farmers are losing the progress they once achieved. Only through the restoration of projects and providing support to farmers can the state overcome this crisis.
