Cotton crops in Telangana's erstwhile Warangal district are facing severe damage this year due to reddening disease and pink bollworm infestation. Prabhanews.com reports that in many areas, cotton plants are turning red, shedding leaves, and their growth has completely halted across thousands of acres.

The lack of timely rainfall initially stunted crop growth, and now the reddening disease and pink bollworm are further devastating the cotton crop. This has left farmers in a dire situation where they may not even recover their investment.

According to Prabhanews.com, approximately 5.5 lakh acres were cultivated with cotton in the erstwhile Warangal district this year. However, farmers state that even a yield of 2-3 quintals per acre is difficult in fields affected by the reddening disease.

Farmers are expressing distress, claiming that spraying pesticides to control pests has yielded no results. With the crop unlikely to reach harvest, they are deeply concerned.

Prabhanews.com indicates that farmers are preparing to remove the cotton crop and cultivate alternative crops such as maize, green gram, and black gram. This decision adds an extra financial burden on them.

This situation is causing significant losses for farmers in Telangana who depend on cotton cultivation. The reduced yield will severely impact their financial stability, posing a challenge to the state's agricultural sector.
