The Telangana Labour Department has issued notices to the producers of Irumudi, starring Ravi Teja, directed by Siva Nirvana and produced by Mythri Movie Makers. The action follows a complaint by C Mahesh Babu, founder-president of Jai Lok Satta (Social Justice Forum), that a minor girl was involved in the film's shooting and promotions.
The inquiry
- Date and place: November 4, at Anjaiah Karmika Samkshema Bhavan, RTC X Roads.
- Called by: the Joint Commissioner of Labour, Ranga Reddy Zone.
- Records sought: the District Magistrate's permission, parental consent, working hours and attendance, schooling arrangements, safety measures and records of her role in promotions.
- Officials will check whether 20% of her pay was put in a fixed deposit in her name.
The department will also examine whether the language used at a promotional event harmed the girl's dignity and safety. The producers must attend with the records or send an authorised representative.
Sacnilk estimates Irumudi's Telugu net collection at ₹194.23 crore. The makers have not responded publicly to the notice.
