Telangana's Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao announced that 315 mandals across the state are facing drought-like conditions. This situation is attributed to insufficient rainfall and the impact of El Niño.
Minister Rao participated in a video conference held by the Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare on Saturday. During the conference, he urged the Central Government to provide immediate financial assistance to Telangana.
He presented several recommendations on behalf of the state government concerning drought mitigation, ensuring financial security for farmers, and the procurement of crops. The minister highlighted the urgent need to support the farming community.
Minister Rao also stated that the 'Khet Bachao Abhiyan' program will be implemented in Telangana from October 22 to November 30. This initiative will involve agricultural organizations and university staff working in villages.
