The Telangana government will soon roll out a one-time settlement (OTS) scheme for closed industries to clear pending electricity dues. At a review meeting at the Secretariat on Thursday, Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka told officials to prepare proposals for the scheme.
Recovering dues
- He asked the CMDs of TGSPDCL and TGNPDCL to reach out to managements of closed industries and explain the rules and settlement options.
- He told the Finance department to recover dues that government departments owe to Singareni, GENCO, TRANSCO and other power bodies.
Getting ready for summer
With El Niño likely to cut hydel generation and push up demand, Bhatti asked officials to prepare for the Rabi season and summer now. He set a target of 140 million units a day of thermal generation. Average daily thermal output this financial year, up to October 21, was 90.97 million units, against 76.46 million units in 2025-26. It peaked at 118 million units on October 16.
An alternative coal supply from Coal India has been arranged for two units of the Yadadri plant, with supplies expected from November. Bhatti told officials to run all thermal units at full capacity and monitor generation constantly.
