Telangana is grappling with a severe power crisis, largely attributed to operational deficiencies under the current Congress government. A critical coal shortage is plaguing the state's power generation centers, impacting electricity supply across the region.

The government's oversight has led to a significant coal deficit at thermal power plants. Genco thermal plants are particularly affected, with insufficient coal supplies causing a drastic reduction in reserves.

According to Central Electricity Authority (CEA) norms, thermal power plants should maintain a minimum of 21 days' worth of coal reserves. However, current reports indicate that plants in Telangana only have about 9 days' worth of stock.

Specifically, the Yadadri Thermal Power Station (YTPS) is in a precarious situation, holding only a 5-day coal supply. This critical shortage poses a significant threat to its operational capacity and overall power generation.

This escalating coal shortage is expected to have a profound impact on industrial, agricultural, and domestic consumers across the state. Experts warn of potential power cuts, which would disrupt daily life and economic activities in Telangana.
