A heated argument between truck drivers and toll plaza staff at Veduru Pavuluru toll plaza on the Vijayawada West Bypass disrupted traffic on the busy NH-16 for some time on Sunday, The Times of India reported.
The trouble began when the truck drivers refused to pay toll charges, claiming they were transporting materials for government works and should be exempt from the tax, according to The Times of India.
When the toll plaza staff insisted on payment, the drivers entered into a heated argument and allegedly blocked the passage by positioning their trucks near the toll gates, The Times of India stated.
This sudden obstruction led to a temporary traffic jam on NH-16, with vehicles piling up on the highway. Commuters and other motorists were caught in the congestion, causing inconvenience.
With the situation escalating and traffic movement affected, the toll plaza staff alerted Gannavaram police. This incident caused inconvenience to those travelling along the busy NH-16 route on the Vijayawada West Bypass.
