At least 25 people were injured in a stampede-like situation caused by a crowd surge outside the Chorbagan Durga Puja pandal in North Kolkata on Saturday evening, police said.
The incident occurred when rain began, prompting devotees waiting outside the pandal to rush forward, a senior officer stated.
Some individuals fell on the road as the crowd surged, leading to the stampede-like conditions.
All 25 injured individuals were transported to the Kolkata Medical College and Hospital, where they are reported to be in serious condition.
West Bengal Health Minister Saradwat Mukherjee and other senior officials promptly arrived at the hospital.
Arrangements are being made to provide comprehensive treatment to those who were injured.
