Vegetable prices in Visakhapatnam city are skyrocketing, causing significant concern among local residents. Essential vegetables such as tomatoes, okra, cluster beans, ivy gourd, and cauliflower have seen substantial price increases.
According to an Andhrajyothy report, necessary produce is not available in the Rythu Bazaars. Only a few varieties are available until nine in the morning.
Andhrajyothy stated that heavy rainfall is the main reason for this price hike, leading to reduced crop yields. Farmers are reporting a lack of produce.
Andhrajyothy reported that tomatoes are being sold at Rs. 40, okra at Rs. 48, cluster beans at Rs. 40, ivy gourd at Rs. 72, and cauliflower at Rs. 40.
This price increase is severely impacting household budgets in Visakhapatnam. People are facing financial difficulties due to the rising cost of essential commodities.
The impact of these rains on vegetable supply from other parts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to Visakhapatnam could lead to further price increases in the future.
