State Information Commissioner PS Naidu participated in a reservoir cleaning drive at Meghadrigedda Reservoir in Visakhapatnam on Saturday. He urged for unified efforts to prevent water pollution and protect water bodies.

Naidu highlighted that preserving water resources is a shared societal duty, not solely a government responsibility. He stressed the importance of maintaining clean water sources and educating the public about the dangers of carelessly discarding waste into them.

Expressing concern over rising water contamination, Naidu noted that plastic waste, chemicals, and garbage dumped into reservoirs pollute drinking water. This contamination endangers aquatic life and poses serious health risks to the public.

He pointed out that the accumulation of waste in water bodies can lead to various health issues. Naidu called for collaborative actions to address and prevent these problems.

The cleanup initiative at the reservoir was organized by Simhadri TMT, Hima Humanitarian Association, and local youth. Several community members joined the effort.

The State Information Commissioner appealed to the public to view water resource protection as a collective responsibility and to engage actively in conservation efforts.
