The free fish seed distribution program in the state is encountering new difficulties. Drought conditions and the El Niño effect are causing water levels in ponds and tanks to drop.
If fish seeds are released into ponds without assessing water availability, they risk dying within days due to lack of water. This could undermine the government's objective.
The government has decided to distribute fish seeds in 17 districts this year. It has allocated Rs. 116 crore for this initiative.
Concerns are being raised that public funds will be wasted if fish seeds die due to insufficient water. Suggestions are being made to take appropriate measures to prevent this situation.
